Dr. Kruse lectures around the country and has authored numerous papers on the treatment of disc herniations, degeneration and stenosis in the neck and back. He has authored a chapter on back pain in pregnant patients and a study showing how Cox Flexion Distraction helped a pregnant woman with sciatica. His publication in JMPT documented the effective treatment of patients who had already undergone spinal surgery. He is involved in federally funded research studies alongside medical doctors, surgeons and researchers at Loyola Stritch School of Medicine, National University of Health Sciences and Palmer College of Chiropractic.
One premise of chiropractic is that when the flow of nerve impulses to parts of the body is hindered, illness, pain, numbness, weakness and tingling can result. Causes of these 'pinched nerves' include herniated, bulging and degenerated discs as well as spinal misalignments (subluxations) and muscle tightness. Chiropractic manipulation, including Cox Flexion-distraction decompression, helps remove this interference and restores normal nerve flow to the musculoskeletal system. Cox Flexion-distraction can also be modified to treat pregnant patients with back pain and sciatica.
As a Chiropractic Orthopedist, Dr. Kruse frequently treats conditions such as rotator cuff impingement and tendonitis, hip bursitis, knee pain and plantar fasciitis. Both offices provide massage therapy, physiotherapies, Acupuncture, custom foot orthotics, kinesio tape, muscle activation technique, nutrition, and rehabilitation.
